Sheila Govindarajan – Lady of the Lake

This is a little gem that comes from Los Angeles released, February 2016. Rarely do I hear artists pull off the multilingual delivery on an album in a way that feels natural. When they do feel right, as in the case of groups like Pink Matrini, they are often covers that are well known, but in the case Ms. Govindarajan’s album, two of the six songs on Lady of the Lake are written in Portuguese. Both feel authentic to the artist and really add something to the body of work. The production is hypnotic, which in part can be credited to the smart production of Lynne Earls who trained at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Give it a listen and let us know if it moves you..
